Being a newbie to the hobby and only owning two prior Ts, I need to ask a question about the new baby greenbottle blue I recently acquired. I've never raised one from a baby before.

Bare with me if this seems stupid to ask...OK?

My new T is just a 1.5 inch baby. So how often (or soon) should I expect it to molt? It does eat very well in case that has a bearing on it.

Related questions:

I assume that younger Ts molt more often than do juveniles, sub-adults, and adults....right?

Does the species matter?

They molt quite often as youngsters. It definately depends on the species, especially as they get older. I don't know the frequency as I've never kept them, but I'd bet if you feed them well at that size you can expect a molt every other month or so.
Anyone with experience with this species, please feel free to chime in

i just got one about the same size so we could be buddies and keep tabs on molting frequency if you want.

From everything I've read on this species, they are pretty fast growers. Obviously to grow, they must molt fairly often.

I guess what I'm kind of anxious about is seeing the radical color changes this species is supposed to go through as they mature.

Appreciate the info Ninja.

Cnoel...that sounds like a great idea! By the way, does your GBB seem awfully chubby?

Maybe it's just that I'm not used to having a baby T, but mine just seems to have an awfully big rump for such a little thing.

How do you see the bald spot? They're so small that I think I'd need a magnifying glass to be able to see a bald spot.

I guess mine's rump is not too much bigger than yours...maybe just a little.

Yeah, you sure can see that bald spot! Nothing on mine....and I think they came from the same "litter", which is strange since they should be the same age.

Boy...they sure do love to web don't they?

We both had to have them shipped to us Constance. The wild color changes and final vivid coloration is why I was interested in having one too.

They can be different sizes based on how often and what you feed them. Also, if one molts a few weeks ahead of the rest, you tend to give it a bit more to eat since its bigger. That makes it grow just a tad bit faster as well.
