I sold my oldskool '72 Triumph chopper yesterday with some mixed feelings.
Once you decide to sell, it's always nice to finally get the right buyer and the money you were asking. But, it's always also sad to see something you built and enjoyed for 30+ years. I originally built the bike way back in 1974 from nothing but a frame and basket-case engine.

Having a son that's a perpetual college student and a daughter in Vet School, the cash will come in very handy though.
It actually happened so fast that I didn't have much time to think.....
The guy calls me Monday night after dinner and says he's coming Tuesday with a truck and cash. Being winter around here, the bike was in storage and there was still a good bit of snow to move in order to get it out. Then I had to clean off the dust and stuff that I'd normally wait until spring to do. Luckily, it was a nice warm day.
The Dude certainly was a work of art too! He drove over from Columbus, Ohio (about 4 hours) drinking beer the entire way! He was pretty shitfaced when he arrived, took one look at the bike, and handed me nice crisp cash. He wasn't even interested in me showing him around the bike at all....like where the ignition was located and how to turn on the headlight. It's pretty flat around central Ohio so I was surprised that the guy sounded like a backwoods hillbilly.
My heart sank a little bit when he began saying he would lose the rear fender that I so painstakingly fabricated, put a sissy bar on it, and replace the 1960's springer front forks.
Oh well....all things must pass eventually.
